Our skin is the canvas we show to the world, but it is also the part of our bodies that is most affected by the world around us. Our skin’s main role is to protect us from the environment. Unfortunately, over time the environment has become increasingly harsh – from the increased power of the sun to the constant bombardment of our skin with radiation.
In order to defend itself, our skin requires at least three types of help. The one we all know about is the physical block – this usually comes in the form of a sunscreen that literally blocks the sun’s harmful UV rays. The second is antioxidant protection. Constant radiation delivered to the skin from our environments results in the production of free radicals, which can lead to skin damage, pigmentation and even skin cancers. A modern day skin care regimen must include the addition of antioxidants to protect the skin from these free radicals. The most effective of these are naturally occurring vitamins such as vitamin C that are applied directly to the skin.
Finally, the skin needs hydration. Again, harsh environmental exposure strips the skin of moisture, leaving it thin and dry. We see this manifest as tired skin with many fine lines and wrinkles. A good moisturizer penetrates and lasts, giving the skin the moisture it needs to look youthful and healthy.
In addition, there is a wide range of skin conditions that require specialized treatment. From sun spots or hyperpigmentation, to rough/dry skin or fine lines and wrinkles – the consistent use of medical-grade skin care can have an enormous impact on correcting these conditions and restoring skin to a balanced, nourished state.
Our team has spent years studying, testing and evaluating skincare lines, looking for products that would provide the same kind of beautiful results that our Toronto patients are used to experiencing with our other treatments. We are pleased to carry Skinbetter Science and SkinCeuticals products at FORM Face + Body.
SkinBetter Science is not just another skincare company. Their product line represents a deep knowledge and rigorous study of skin and skincare chemistry. They have developed products that can achieve remarkable results through purposeful product innovation. The result is a line of products that can be customized to look after virtually all skin types, conditions and concerns. SkinBetter products are only available in physician offices, ensuring a constant commitment to quality and efficacy.
One of our favourite features of SkinBetter Science is that patients need not commit to a tedious multi-step process in order to see results. SkinBetter has been designed to offer an uncomplicated approach to skincare. The addition of just one product can deliver remarkable results, while two to three SkinBetter products working in tandem can completely change the way you feel about your skin.

Did you know that free radicals have been clinically linked to skin cancer? Free radicals are molecules that have an unpaired electron and are thus in an unstable and reactive state, with the potential to cause damage to other tissues in the body, including DNA.
Luckily, antioxidants can help to prevent this damage by scavenging for and neutralizing free radicals. Alto Defense Serum™ was formulated to provide you with the ultimate layer of protection, incorporating a proprietary blend of 19 antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, coenzyme Q10, grape seed extract, cocoa, turmeric, green tea, coffee, superoxide dismutase, and more.
Free radicals often form as a result of UV exposure, making an antioxidant serum like Alto paired with sunscreen is a winning daily combination to prevent sun damage before it can occur.
